About Dr. Christopher Mason
Dr. Christopher Mason is Co-Founder and Global Director of Biotia. He is also a Professor of Genomics, Physiology, and Biophysics at Weill Cornell Medicine, and directs the WorldQuant Initiative for Quantitative Prediction. The Mason Lab develops and deploys computational and experimental methodologies to identify functional genetic elements of the human genome and metagenome, with research spanning molecular profiling of extreme phenotypes, novel DNA and RNA sequencing and base-modification chemistries, and engineered cell and genome modifications.
Dr. Mason has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, with work featured on the covers of Nature, Science, Cell, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Microbiology, and Neuron. He is the author of two books and an inventor on five patents and five FDA-authorized diagnostic tests. He has co-founded 10 biotechnology companies and three non-profits, and serves as an advisor to more than 30 additional companies.
His honors include the NIH Transformative R01 Award, NASA Group Achievement Award, International Space Station R&D Award, the CDC Honor Award for Standardization of Clinical Testing, the Pershing Square Sohn Cancer Research Alliance Young Investigator Award, and the Hirschl-Weill-Caulier Career Scientist Award. His research has been covered in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, TIME, and across major broadcast media including CNN, PBS, NASA, and National Geographic.
